The annual Chefs of the Murray dinner, currently held each October, aims to promote Riverland food and wine at an event that is the culmination of a mentoring project with local apprentice chefs, hospitality students and regional food and wine producers.

A guest chef develops an innovative menu featuring seasonal, regional produce, then oversees TAFE SA Commercial Cookery students and apprentice chefs prepare the meal under the mentorship of local chefs. TAFE SA Hospitality students serve the meal. This training program educates students about quality fresh local produce, gives them valuable experience in the preparation and service at a premier dining event, and encourages the cross-promotion of the local product through dining venues.

Riverland wines from both large and boutique wineries are selected to complement each dish.

Food Riverland Inc. is indebted to Nippy’s Fruit Juices Pty Ltd. for their generous sponsorship of Chefs of the Murray.
